Vietnam recognized and established diplomatic relations at Ambassadorial level with the Republic of Macedonia on 10th June 1994. The Macedonian Ambassador to Beijing also assumes the post of Ambassador to Vietnam (The first Macedonian Ambassador presented credentials on 17th March 1995). The Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria in Sofia assumes the post of Ambassador to Macedonia as well. Ambassador Phạm Quốc Bảo presented credentials on 01st September 2005.

Vietnam – Macedonia relations at present are at normal protocol level. The two countries have worked on a draft Agreement on Economic and Trade Cooperation for review and signing in the future.
