Vietnam declared its recognition of the Republic of Montenegro on June 28th 2006 and established diplomatic ties with Montenegro at ambassadorial level on August 4th 2006.

As Montenegro has just separated from Serbia, relations between Vietnam and Montenegro remain modest.
