Vietnam - Republic of Congo Relations
- Vietnam and Congo established diplomatic relation on 16 July 1964.
- Delegation exchanges:
From Congo: President M. N'Gouabi (1973), President D. Sassou N'guesso attended Francophone Summit in 1997 and officially visited Vietnam in 2000.
From Vietnam: Vice President Nguyen Huu Tho (1978), General Vo Nguyen Giap (1980), Vice President Huynh Tan Phat (1983), and Vice President Tran Duc Luong (2002).
- The two countries signed a Framework Agreement on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (2000), Vietnam – FAO – Republic of Congo Agreement on Food Security Cooperation (2001), Trade Agreement, Protocol on cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Protocol on Educational cooperation, Protocol on Industrial cooperation and Agreement on cooperation between the two countries' industrial chambers (2002).
- In 2003 and 2004, Vietnam assigned 54 specialists and technicians to assist Congo in wet rice cultivation in accordance with Vietnam-FAO-Congo’s Agreement on Cooperation.
- The two countries organized the first meeting session of the Joint-Government Committee on economic, trade, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation in Hanoi in October 2003. Congo proposes Vietnam for support in such fields as education, healthcare and vocational training.
- Vietnam’s export turnover to Congo in 2006 was over 23 million USD in rice, television and electronic components and its import value was 1.3 million USD in wood, cast iron and other goods.
- Vietnam’s Ambassador to Angola concurrently holds the post of Ambassador to Congo. Congo’s Ambassador in Beijing doubles as Ambassador to Vietnam.
