Vietnam – Rwanda relations
Vietnam and Rwanda have established diplomatic relations since 1975.
Delegation exchange: State Secretary of the Republic of Rwanda Andre Bumaya officially visited Vietnam on 24 – 26 June 2002. This is the first visit of a Rwanda State Secretary to Vietnam.
Rwanda wishes to learn from Vietnam’s experience in education, training and agricultural development, especially in irrigation and wet rice cultivation, and to apply the 2+1 cooperation model which Vietnam is now applying to several African countries.
The two countries have signed a Framework Agreement on economic, trade, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation.
Regarding bilateral trade: in 2006, Vietnamese exports to Rwanda valued more than 2.5 million USD and import about 109,000 USD from the latter.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania doubles as ambassador to Rwanda.
The Rwanda Ambassador in Beijing doubles as Ambassador to Vietnam.
