Minister asks for increased quality of foreign market research
A senior government official has asked Viet Nam's trade representative agencies abroad to improve the quality of their research of local markets to help create breakthroughs in foreign markets-related activities.

Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen made the request during commercial counsellors' conference, held by his ministry in Ha Noi on Jan. 23. The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
"Market-involved barriers should be discovered fast and resolved; the quality of research of markets, commodities, policies and import-export management measures should be increased; in addition to providing assistance for businesses seeking partners and markets," the minister said.
Over recent years, trade representative agencies abroad and trade promotion organisations inside the country have efficiently co-ordinated in carrying out promotion activities, the minister said.
He added that they helped provide local businesses with information on markets, commodity prices, consumers' demands, as well as information on their partners, rivals and trade laws.
MoT targets a minimum of 47.74 billion USD in export value this year, an increase of 20 percent over 2006. The figure is expected to reach over 80 billion USD by 2010, representing an annual growth of 18 percent in the 2006-2010 period.
Last year, Viet Nam exported 39,6 billion USD worth of commodities, up more than 22 percent over 2005 and 5 percent higher than the government-set target. (VNA)
