Luanda (VNA) - Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s current visit to Angola has opened up a new period of friendship and cooperation between the Angolan MPLA Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, their respective countries and citizens.
This statement was made by Permanent Vice President of the Angolan MPLA Party Antonio Pitra Neto in Luanda on April 3 while meeting with Party General Secretary Manh, who began an official State-level visit to the African country at the invitation of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos a day before.
The MPLA Party leader spoke highly of contributions by the Communist Party and people of Vietnam to the world’s common struggle for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress.
He informed his guest of the Angolan party’s urgent tasks, particularly preparations for the MPLA Party congress scheduled to take place later this year.
Party General Secretary Manh remarked that solidarity, support and assistance from international friends such as the Angolan people played an important part in Vietnam ’s achievements.
Host and guest agreed to further enhance cooperative and friendly ties between the two Parties by increasing exchange of visits, information and experiences in Party building as well as in promoting social, economic and cultural development.
Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh invited leaders of the MPLA Party to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time. He took the opportunity to present 50 sets of computers produced by Vietnam to the Angolan Party.
On the same day, General Secretary Manh met Angolan National Assembly President Roberto de Almeida. The Angolan top legislator described the visit to Angola by the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam as an important landmark, which he said would open up a new development stage in the friendship and cooperation between Angola and Vietnam .
Recalling his visit to Vietnam in 2004, the Angolan NA President said he was impressed with the land and people of Vietnam and greatly admired the renewal achievements that Vietnam had recorded.
General Secretary Manh affirmed that the two top legislative bodies of Vietnam and Angola play an important role in the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the development of legal foundation and framework for the two countries’ stable and long-term relations in the spirit of comprehensive partnership, equality, mutual benefit, assistance and development as visiting Party General Secretary Manh and Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos agreed during their talks held earlier the same day.
General Secretary Manh and NA President Roberto de Almeida agreed to enhance exchanges of friendly activities, experiences and information between the two top legislative bodies of Vietnam and Angola , as well as speed up the effective and practical cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
The Vietnamese Party leader took the occasion to convey Vietnamese NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong’s invitation to visit Vietnam to the Angolan NA President at an appropriate time.
Later the same day, General Secretary Manh met Angolan Prime Minister Fernando da Piedade Dias do Santos . The host highlighted the visit to Angola by General Secretary Manh and his entourage as a pivotal milestone in the two countries’ relations.
The two sides agreed to increase the exchanges of delegations, experience and information between Vietnam and Angola, and soon implement agreements signed between the two countries for their effective cooperation, thus bringing in practical benefits for the two people, as well as contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
The Vietnamese Party leader invited the Angolan PM to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
In the evening of the same day, the MPLA Party Steering Committee gave a banquet in honour of General Secretary Manh and his entourage.
