Foreign newspapers praise Viet Nam's achievements
Under the title "Viet Nam: A tiger's great leap", the article highlighted Viet Nam's achievements in the field of food production, saying the country, formerly a rice importer, has become the world's second-largest rice exporter with an export volume of 5 million tonnes in 2005.
Additionally, Viet Nam tapped 20 million tonnes of crude oil, attracted more than 40 billion USD in foreign investment and posted an export value of 32 billion USD in 2005, the paper said.
It also praised positive changes in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City with new tall buildings and residential quarters as well as plants and industrial zones.
Meanwhile, the weekly "Vientiane Business" of Laos in its recent editions reported on Viet Nam's policy of attracting foreign investment and foreign-invested projects operating in Viet Nam. It also spotlighted favourable factors for the development of Vietnamese tourism./.
